Santa Bandsmen S&P Pair, Japan, c. 1950s

Mid-century Japanese export ceramic figurals: Santa faces wearing drum-major shako hats with holly cockades, red-and-white band uniforms with gold diamond belt buckles. One waves and holds a gold horn at his side. The other plays a gold fife or flute. They lean slightly toward each other, so they were probably sculpted as a facing pair.
